Happy New Year!! I’ve had a very busy few weeks and unfortunately, Green Grechen has taken a hit in posts (sorry!), but I’m almost back in full force – I’m moving to Austin, Texas this Friday – and featuring fabulous eco-fashion & deals again.
Part of why I took a little time off was because my fiance’s son was in town for a week and we tried to do some fun things, including a trip to my FAVORITE place EVER, the Georgia Aquarium. Seriously, I went to Sea World over the Summer and it pales in comparison with the Georgia Aquarium, in terms of exhibits at least. I love the Beluga whales, and the Whale Sharks are amazing. But my absolute favorite animals at the aquarium are the stingrays. When I was younger, I used to spend forever at the stingray petting pool at Sea World while my family would do other things. They are so beautiful and regal; I love to watch them fly through the water. This time, I found out they had a couple of new manta rays – I think this is the only aquarium to rehabilitate mantas – and I was fascinated:

Anyway, this is all as a segway to my must-have of the day, this Stingray ring by Alkemie jewelry made from reclaimed metal:

Check out some more pictures from my aquarium visit after the jump…I hope you enjoy!

It’s not often I come across a piece of jewelry I love that I also can afford…or at least isn’t more than two or three hundred dollars…but I’m consistently impressed by Alex & Ani. I have a delicate expandable ring (like their bracelets) by Alex & Ani that I’ve had for years, and I still love it. Now that they’re making nearly all their pieces with recycled metal, I love it even more! And most of their items are under $100; worthy additions to any eco-friendly wardrobe…
This ring is a new arrival at Shopbop, and only $58. It comes in other colors, but this blue is my favorite – it’s so vibrant and fun!

I’m honestly not 100% on board with lingerie made from recycled fabrics (it’s kind of like buying used or vintage lingerie – which I don’t think I could do) but if I was going to buy used, I’d buy this super-cute triangle bra by Re Collection:

It’s also available in bright blue, but pink is my favorite. I don’t know about you, but I could use a little color in my lingerie drawer – I always stick to the totally practical “nude” bra so I don’t have to worry about see-through with my white t-shirts – but now that Fall is getting closer, and layering is the name of the game, a pretty, bright bra is just the thing!
Re Collection recycled fabric clothing is starting to pop-up at various online boutiques (Shopbop, Barney’s, Revolve…) and while a lot of it has a distinct 80′s vibe, I really love the simplicity of this slip dress – $108 at Shopbop:
