First, I have to admit two things: I don’t know much about Leanne Marshall (I stopped watching Project Runway the season before she was on it) and I don’t like Bluefly (they inflate retail prices and have been accused of selling fake bags) – so take what I have to say below with those things in mind. But I’ve been seeing a lot of hype over her much-anticipated-collection for Bluefly in the fashion blogosphere, had to check it out….and…
I don’t get all the fuss. It’s not awful, but nothing really jumps out at me as a must-have either. Or even something I’d wear, let alone pay those prices for. I really, really love the evening dresses from her OWN collectionthough; I think an evening dress is the best and most appropriate place to showcase her apparent talent for pleating. The evening dresses are truly beautiful, and probably worth the high price tag they command.
I also appreciate that she incorporates eco-friendly materials into a lot of what she does, although I wish it was more organic cotton than bamboo, and endeavors to create a more sustainable business model over time. I just think the collection is over-priced for pieces that will feel dated after a couple of seasons – maybe it’s just me, but I get tired of any adornment after a while – and that you can find similar versions of. And the colors are very nice – my favorite piece is the tank top, but I can buy the basic draped Splendid one I’ve been coveting for less than half the price of this one. AND it doesn’t have to be dry cleaned…I mean seriously…
What do you think? am I wrong? Let’s hear it!!
