Reclaimed Chic: The Best Recycled Leather Bags

October 22, 2008 by grechen

If you haven’t been following me at Grechen’s Closet the last four years, you may not be aware that I am a handbag ADDICT. Seriously. I have a problem - and way too many lovely bags. Nevertheless, I’m always looking for the next one, and lately I’ve been obsessed with Ashley Watson’s recycled leather bags (save 20% at Nimli with code “grechens08″). Ashley Watson’s bags are the most well-known because she’s carried in many top online boutiques, but I just KNEW there were more designers out there working with recycled leather, and I found some great ones at Etsy.

    refresh accessories

she makes most of her bags from recycled coats, jeans, dad’s old shirts…but I really love this one with a little recycled leather on it..

    agent reclaimed

she is just about my favorite of the recycled leather sellers. Her leather cuffs are very cool, but I just LOVE these two bags - especially the BIG one!

    curlgirldesigns

uses only recycled leather in her leather bags, and her prices top out at $74.

    cul de sac

produces her bags from all kinds of recycled materials - a SHOCKING pink leather coat, or army surplus material! The Pink bag is $185

    katkaland

katkaland’s bags are also made from recycled leather jackets. Prices are $85 and $95.

    naranja37

generally offers found objects, vintage pieces and some handmade items, but I like her recycled leather coinpurse, and recycled leather photo album!!

    bessware

her recycled leather bags are so cool! The designs are unique and fun, and only run either $34 or $52.

    f o u n d

specializes in smaller bags, and they’re oh so cute! My favorite is the gray one that’s $40, but the electric blue bag is also great for quick trips or toting just your phone & credit cards

    armcandy

…speaking of small…armcandy makes their bags from recycled leather/scraps from other handbag designers and you can choose your own color and bangle combination! And these are only $26.
