This is such a brilliant idea – I don’t know why someone hasn’t thought of this before (or maybe they have?). These super-cute duvets are designed for you to fill with old towels, clothes, sheets, whatever, and voila, you have a comfy dog bed! The Molly Mutt duvet is a MUCH cheaper option than buying a dog bed – the two my dog has were around $100 each – and a great way to put to use scraps and random textiles you have laying around the house.
Use code MMDC25 (thanks to Daily Candy) for 25% off your order.
Epaulet has a fantastic selection of Melissa plastic (recyclable) shoes and have just put quite a few of them on clearance. These Tinkerbell flats are $35:
And these Melissa X Vivienne Westwood heels are marked down to $105
(Epaulet also added some new Melissa shoes, including some exclusive Vivienne Westwood collaborations)
I have a love/hate relationship with leather jackets: I love them on others, but have never really liked them on me, and I definitely hate the price. Faux leather jackets are a good alternative, both in terms of price, and animal-friendliness, but I’ve really never been able to find many I’d even consider wearing. But now that eco-fashion is on par design and style-wise with conventional fashion, there are many more options available, and faux leather (polyurethane) is actually more eco-friendly than I thought:
Polyurethane faux leather is a greener alternative to PVC (vinyl) and leather. PVC contains chloride and does not biodegrade. It leaches toxic additives in landfills and emits carcinogenic dioxin when incinerated. Leather production is linked to large amounts of water pollution from waste, and the process of tanning uses numerous chemicals, including heavy metals. Naturally soft and flexible, polyurethane does not require the solvents used for softening PVC and leather. (from Brentano Fabrics)
also: “Polyurethane is biodegradable and is designed to deteriorate after usage”
(**edited** Unfortunately my favorite vegan leather jacket wasn’t really – the picture displayed on the website wasn’t the actual vegan jacket, it was the leather jacket. Oops. I’ve removed it from this list.)

Happy Shopping!
envi
Until 10/22, use code “halftime” at Envi Eco-boutique for 50% off everything except Anjalay and final sale items! Yes…50% off! I’m specifically tempted by this She-Bible tunic and Kelly B organic cotton wide leg pants…how amazing are both of these pieces?? And 50% off? sorry, I’m excited
Pivot
Sadly, Pivot Boutique is closing down their shop and Jessa will be focusing on trying to make a larger impact with eco-fashion through other things (check out this interview with Jessa at Commerce with a Conscience for more information). This means that the online store is on sale through 10/31 – many sizes are already sold out, but be sure to check if you need a pretty organic cotton dress or t-shirts. I’m personally in love with this Bario Neal bangle, marked down to $38:
Alternative Apparel
Alternative Apparel is offering 25% off everything with code CNAT10 through 10/27. Not all of their pieces are eco-friendly, but they do have some really interesting fabrications like eco-heather (made from organic cotton, recycled polyester and natural rayon), eco-fleece and a nice organic basics section – I’m tempted to get a couple of these a-line t-shirts for $24 with the code:
Stella McCartney
Ultimo is having a pre-sale of 65% off Stella McCartney’s Fall collection until 10/25. Stella doesn’t always design in eco-friendly fabric, but she does maintain ethical business practices, and NEVER uses any animal products (except silk) in any of her pieces. I need a lot more off than 65% to be able to afford any Stella McCartney, but if you can afford to splurge, I’m not sure you’ll find any better prices on the new Fall collection…
Be sure to check the coupon codes for other deals & new coupon codes!!
It’s just become habit for me now, but I always have my little BAGGU bag (thanks Candice) folded up in a pouch inside my purse, so I use it whenever I’m out: the bookstore, Saks, Sephora, the Gap, J Crew… Do you carry a reusable bag with you all the time? Or do you only use reusable bags for groceries? I could act all high & mighty and say that I NEVER use plastic bags or whatever, but the truth is I do get plastic bags at Target and reuse them as trash bags (haven’t bought trash bags in years). I mainly use reusable bags because they’re easier to carry, and I HATE having plastic and paper bags all over the house. Less waste, and better for the environment is good too
Which reusable bag is your favorite? Leave a comment!!
