5 Things Friday: Happiness

I have a hard time with happiness. I mean, I’m happy, but everyone around me constantly thinks I’m angry or unhappy. I know that’s because of my demeanor – I’m way over-analytical, cynical, skeptical, thoughtful, quiet, and my face shows it. I am constantly working, or thinking about work, slightly on-edge, and my mind is always working. I’m distracted from actually enjoying life and just generally feeling happy by my concentration on the struggles of daily life. And there aren’t even that many struggles! I have so many things to be thankful for, and am so excited to be in the position I am as an entrepreneur and full-time blogger, I’d just like to be able to enjoy that MORE. I want to feel at peace not on edge.

So one way I’ve been trying to accomplish this – bringing my mind back to contentment and gratitude, and therefore becoming more “happy” – is taking note of the things I’m grateful for during my day or week. And I’m also trying to really enjoy my “happy” moments more and revel in them a little longer. So far, so good

Here are 5 of my favorite happy moments this week:

The silly things my dog does (that’s him up there ^)

Eating my fiance’s arepas

Making (& eating) vegan chocolate chip cookies (the recipe’s not on the website yet, but it was in the Vegetarian Times February 2009 issue – these are seriously amazing)

Being listed as a recommended read on Ethical Style – one of my VERY favorite blogs

Interacting with my Twitter friends: misosouper, CarlaRose, thesalerack…and many more
